Moving from Mealime · Screenshot import · Free to start
Moving from Mealime? Keep the meals you saved.
Mealime has shut down, and it never offered a way to export your data. Your saved recipes don't have to vanish with it — screenshot the dishes you want to keep, import them into WeekPlate, and be cooking from them tonight.
Mealime has already shut down
Mealime ended its service in October 2026, with user data being deleted — there is no in-app export and no way to recover what's gone. The meals you screenshotted and saved over the years are the ones you can still bring with you, so it pays to move them somewhere permanent soon.
Why families pick WeekPlate
| Typical yearly planners | WeekPlate | |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing | $45–80 renewed every year | Pay once — no renewals, ever |
| Family access | Often a paid tier of its own | Included — Family Sharing covers your household |
| Adding family | Create an account, manage a login | Invite by iMessage — no new accounts |
| Your data | Lives on the company's servers | On your devices and your iCloud |
| Rebuilding recipes | Manual entry, one by one | Unlimited screenshot imports with on-device OCR |
While other family planners charge $45–80 every year, WeekPlate asks once.
Moving in takes three steps
Gather your screenshots
Your camera roll probably holds the recipes you saved over the years — screenshots from videos, posts, cookbooks. Anything showing a dish works. Pick one or twenty.
Import in WeekPlate
On-device OCR reads each dish name — nothing is uploaded. WeekPlate matches it against a built-in library of 500 recipes; anything uncertain is saved as a draft for you to review and finish.
Plan your week again
Drop dishes onto any night and the grocery list builds itself, sorted by aisle. Invite your family by iMessage — no new accounts — and plan together.
Straight talk about “migration”
WeekPlate doesn't pretend this is a one-click migration. Mealime has no export, so no app can transfer your data directly — including ours. What you get is a fast, semi-automatic bridge: screenshots in, matches out, and you approve every dish before it's saved.
Questions, answered
- Can I export my data from Mealime?
- No. Mealime never offered a data export, and the service has now shut down. That goes for every app, not just WeekPlate — any “Mealime importer” works from screenshots or manual entry, not a direct transfer. We say so up front instead of pretending otherwise.
- Is this a one-click migration?
- No — and be wary of anything that promises one. WeekPlate's import is a semi-automatic bridge: you feed in screenshots, on-device OCR reads the dish names, matches are proposed against our built-in recipe library, and you confirm everything before it lands in your plan. Most people rebuild their week in a few minutes.
- How does the matching work?
- WeekPlate reads each screenshot on your device (nothing is uploaded), recognizes the dish name, and matches it against a built-in library of 500 recipes. Confident matches drop straight onto your week; anything uncertain is saved as a draft you can review, edit, and place yourself.
- Do imports count against my free plan?
- No. Screenshot imports are unlimited from day one — your weekly free plan and swaps are a separate thing, and imports never touch them.
- What does WeekPlate cost?
- Free to start: a full week of dinners planned every week on the free tier. The full unlock is a one-time purchase — no subscription, no renewals — and your whole family is covered.
